Group Tours of the Margaret Mitchell House & Gone With The Wind Museum

Gone With the Wind put Atlanta on the map and the story of Margaret Mitchell and her work is crucial to understanding the history and culture of the city she loved.

Born and raised on Peachtree Street, Margaret was born into a city that had been leveled by civil war less than forty years earlier. As she grew, she became a part of a city turned away from its past and revitalized by the hope of creating a brighter future and establishing itself the capital of the “New South.” Ever focused on the future, the city of Atlanta has done much to erase its past and sadly, there is little left of the city that Margaret Mitchell knew. It is indeed a place and time gone with the wind…

Today, The Margaret Mitchell House & Museum stands as a testament to all that has come to pass. A remnant of one of Atlanta’s golden eras, it endures as an architectural beauty, an icon of history and a mecca for those who wish to see the place where the best-loved novel of all time was created. It is a poignant place of reflection, inspiration and hope for both the future and for the preservation of our rapidly disappearing past.

We look forward to seeing you and your group at the Margaret Mitchell House & Museum.
